Job Description & RequirementsThe Montefiore Lactation Education Manager maintains standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurse Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing’s Social Policy Statement. Scope of Practice for International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs). Standards of Practice for International Board-Certified Lactation. The Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding. New York Code Rules and Regulations (NYCRR 405.2) Hospital Regulations concerning Breastfeeding.
The Lactation Education Manager actualizes the vision, mission, values, and balance scorecard performance measures for montefiore Medical Center.
The Lactation Education Manager participates in performance improvement/ research activities, maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise, and Demonstrates leadership skills. The Lactation Education Manager demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served.
The Lactation Education Manager collaborates with other members of the health care team to ensure promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding. The coordinator serves as a consultant and educator to patients and healthcare professionals as well as students from nursing and medical schools.
