Museum Curator/Archaeologist/Conservator

Job Duties : The Tuskegee Airmen National Historical Museum Archaeologist examines and handles artifacts, works of art, and other historical items in a museum and conservation lab setting. Museum archaeologist duties include acquiring and authenticating artifacts, conserving artifacts, curating exhibits, overseeing museum collections, and designing tours and other educational materials for the public. Discovering, exploring and curating the history of the Tuskegee Airmen.

Job Responsibilities:

· Develops and organizes new collections to expand and improve educational and research facilities 

· Researches the history and effects of the Tuskegee Airmen

· Maintains records and catalogs acquisitions 

· Collaborates with other museums or institutions

· Researches, compiles and prepare written information about artifacts and publish it on the museum’s website 

· Ensures collections are properly preserved 

· Performs other duties, as assigned

Job Qualifications:

· Experience with museum artifacts and other collectibles 

· Strong eye for detail and strong design instincts

· Solid interpersonal skills 

· Exceptional research skills

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Able to organize, present and communicate messages effectively

· Superb project management and organizational skills

Job Education:

Master's degree preferred in an appropriate discipline of the museum's specialty in archaeology—or in museum studies.

Job Conditions:

· Works around aviation equipment

· Works with historic airplane parts

· Works in office/hanger setting
