Job Description: Drill Operator 

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Drill Operator to join our field operations team. The Drill Operator will be responsible for operating drilling equipment to install underground fiber optic cables. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in directional drilling, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain directional drilling equipment to install underground fiber optic cables.
• Interpret and follow construction plans, blueprints, and maps for drilling projects.
• Perform pre-operational inspections and maintenance on drilling equipment.
• Monitor and adjust drilling parameters to ensure accurate and efficient installation.
• Collaborate with the project team to ensure timely and successful completion of projects.
• Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to drilling equipment and operations.
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients.
• Complete necessary documentation and reports related to drilling activities.
• Assist with other construction and installation tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating directional drilling equipment.
• Knowledge of underground utility construction and fiber optic cable installation.
• Familiarity with reading and interpreting construction plans and blueprints.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in the field.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 pounds).
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Capable of standing, walking, and operating machinery for extended periods.
